Assalamu’alaikumwarahmatullahiwabarakatuh, First and foremost, I would like to thank Nusantara Gems, the organizer of KL – Jakarta ‘’Islamic Fashion Festival’’ (IFF) for appointing me as the patron of this inaugural event in the country.

The concept of Muslim apparels which was introduced in the mid 90’s era is now widely accepted by the public; in fact the local fashion designers have also been producing more diversity in their designs to cope with the increasing demands from its aficionados.

It is timely for us tom take the initiative to promote the creations in Islamic fashion to an international audience since the market is not restricted to this region only. It goes beyond geographical boundaries and well spread, just like the populace of the Muslims throughout the world.

Indeed, the KL – Jakarta ‘’Islamic Fashion Festival’’ (IFF) that will be presented by the Malaysia-International Fashion Week(M-IFW) is an instigation move to establish Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta as the latest fashion hub for Islamic apparels.

To stand proudly alongside other renowned fashion capitals such Paris-Rome-Milan or New York is not an easy task, nevertheless it is not impossible as a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

In a long run, it is highly hoped that this move will create a new economic powerhouse to both Malaysia and Indonesia through a platform where Islamic boutiques and labels can conduct trade activities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the sponsors who have given their cooperation and fullest commitment to the organizer, Nusantara Gems which also shoulders a big mission to honour the Islamic fashion.

I’m also touched by the kindness of the organizer, fashion designers and its aficionados for their donation to the Yayasan Harapan Kanak-Kanak of which I’m the patron.May this inaugural event be a bug success and beneficial as anticipated by many and will continue to be organized for many more years to come.
